East Sheen

Southwest London

Well positioned with Richmond, Putney and Richmond Park on its doorstep, East Sheen is close to central London but has escaped commuter hub status.

East Sheen was once a hamlet within the parish of Mortlake but is now a fully-fledged area of its own. Adjacent to the largest Royal Park and biggest enclosed space in London: Richmond Park, it offers a range of properties to rent or buy from 18th century mansions to the new, environmentally driven developments like Pembroke Gardens. East Sheen is one of a kind in that it provides a green sanctuary and a village of community-minded residents close to central London, without becoming a commuter hub. The central high street of East Sheen is flecked with independent shops, cafes, eateries and artisan grocers. The main appeal of the area is without a doubt the outstanding primary schools – East Sheen, Thomson House and Sheen Mount.

It is well positioned with two larger shopping areas; Richmond to the West and Putney to the East. Plus there is of course Richmond Park to the South and mellow Barnes to the North with the London Westlands centre and river path for outdoor pursuits.

The properties available in East Sheen range from modest one bedroom flats to imposing mansions overlooking Richmond park. The architecture of the area therefore ranges too, from modern developments to older properties from when Henry VII granted the estate of Sheen to his sixth, Katherine Parr.

Remarkably, East Sheen is only 23 minutes away from Central London but provides locals and visitors a haven of relaxation that is more commonly found in the countryside. The closest station is Mortlake, which travels into Waterloo station in under half and hour. If you need access to the tube, Richmond is only a short bus trip away where you can connect to District line services.
