Maida Vale was made famous by The Beatles cover, which showed the four lovable Liverpudlians crossing the road outside Abbey Studios. Other than the tourists taking snaps on that same crossroad, there is a lot to recommend this leafy corner of London. The stucco fronted houses lining the wide streets by the canal in Little Venice is just one example of the types of beautiful properties on offer here. There are high-ceilinged mansion flats as well as spacious family homes, with secret communal gardens to boot. The BBC’s Maida Vale studios are just around the corner, which means you are more than likely to spot a few VIPs of the broadcasting and music industries around here.

Maida Vale’s characteristic mansion blocks are thanks to the Church Commissioners who owned the land and due to the demand for flats, developed most of the housing in a block like formation. Since then, the housing market has diversified and Maida Vale has a lot to offer, whether that be one of the mansion flats, mews houses, large family homes or even flats from 1930s right on Maida Vale. Little Venice’s grand stucco-fronted houses are in high demand, as are the properties on Clarendon Gardens, Maida Avenue and Blomfield Road.

The area has many local amenities including two Tesco’s Express but locals are more likely to stocking up on the organic produce on sale from one of the area’s many independent, specialist shops. Sheepdrove Organic Farm is well-loved and easily spotted by the gold sheep on its doorstep, as is The Winery, the local independent wine shop which has a welcoming, working fire. Other local gems include the Maida Vale library and the Clifton Nurseries.

Both Maida Vale and Warwick Avenue tube stations are in Zone 2 and on the Bakerloo Line. Neither station is far from Paddington and only 10 minutes from Oxford Circus. The area is well connected by buses and main roads.
